Athenahealth EMR Software is one of the largest Electronic Medical Records (EMR) Software companies in the US. The Massachusetts based company provides Cloud-based EMR, Practice Management (PM) & Medical Billing software to more than 150,000 healthcare providers across the country.     Pros: Absolutely nothing, evertything is named and processed different. What is a closed encounter to EEG to nobody? Serioulsy what does that mean, an order? a bill? procedure? what? How does one encounter an EEG?

    Pros: I like seeing all practitioners schedules at one time instead of looking up each individual. The software is extremely simple to use too.

    Cons: Unable to double book in slots is possibly my biggest complaint. Please do something about it.

    Cons: Athena does not allow for double-booking two patients at the same time. Please do something about it.

    Pros: The system layout is extremely user friendly. That is the only exception to how incompetent everyone else in this system is.

    Cons: The billing aspect is absolutely horrible. If you utilize the Athena billing module, I suggest you stop or make sure that they are being held to their contract. The billing team has no idea what they are doing in regards to modifiers or appeals. Athena also takes credit for every dollar posted into the system even though they did NOT work the claims or take part in collecting patient responsibility. How horrible!

    Pros: The EHR was easy to use. The best part is Athena's back office support. They handle all aspects of insurance filing reducing the need for additional staff just to handle billing and filling functions. Their pricing is based on % received which cover the EHR and back office services.

    Pros: This EMR enables a patient portal and saves findings and phrases. Some labs also interface with the program.

    Cons: Orders faxed to your office go into a queue and are not easily available real time. Mistakes can be made regarding scanning documents to the wrong patient. Help via phone is not convenient for real-time office practice. Other EMRs offer better support. However, the major issues involve selecting a diagnosis rather than an ICD 10, the inability to link meds with multiple diagnoses, the way medications are reviewed, trouble in reviewing ICD 10 from the problem list, amending notes and also how to review significant documents.

    Cons: It would be nice if they listened to the people and create a better product to make the workflow better. The online classes are useless, and training process is not informative..

    Pros: The product has so many features to offer and it takes a long time learning them, but once you learn them, it's worth it!

    Cons: You waste a lot of time trying to find answers to your questions which is difficult because Athena has their own language.
