Haiku and Canto are dedicated apps for Epic EHR software users using mobile devices and tablets. These apps are designed to enhance the user experience by offering an intuitive and native experience to modern-day physicians. Providers can access the EMR software directly from their phones or tablets, which saves time and ensures the timely retrieval of critical healthcare information in a highly secure and portable manner. MyChart is a dedicated Patient Portal platform that is available through the Epic EMR Software system. The secure and intuitive portal allows patients to access their healthcare information, including clinical summary, e-prescription (eRx) history, view historical appointments, and/or schedule new appointments, as well as other information, including lab and radiology reports, instantly. Patients can also request Prescription Refills and securely communicate with their healthcare providers.

Functionality
Pros: Epic EMR is a powerhouse it does almost everything you would need in a hospital setting. The patient records are well organized and the system integrates smoothly with labs and pharmacies. I also love the MyChart feature which makes patient communication so much easier.
Cons: The learning curve is steep and training takes forever. Sometimes the system feels overly complex for smaller practices.
Verdict: If you are in a big hospital Epic is fantastic. For smaller clinics it might be overkill. Still once you get used to it it is hard to beat.
